Chamber Overview
The Fordyce Chamber of Commerce was organized in the early 1920s. During World War II, the Chamber became inactive because so many of the city's
leaders were serving their country in the armed services or were impacted by the conflict. In the fall of 1943 concerned local leaders began a reorganization of the
Chamber. In January, 1954, the Fordyce Chamber of Commerce once again became actively involved in making our city a better place in which to live, work,
and do business.
Today the Chamber functions with a 15-member board of directors and four departments. They are as follows:
- Community Affairs - To continue with the existing programs that enhance the quality of life of area citizens, and that will attract
new jobs and new families to Fordyce. To be ready to implement new programs that further address the purpose of the organization.
- Governmental Affairs - To work with local, state and US governmental officials and agencies in an effort to inform our membrs on issues that impact the Chamber's
goals andto encourage Chamber membrs to take active positions in areas that will create a positive business attitude for our area.
- Membership Services - To attempt new ways to impact the community and business in a positive manner through Chamber membership.
Bring together business minds in the community to bring about a quality change in the community and to demonstrate that Chamber membership illustrates one's
concern for the city and the area.
- Business & Economic Affairs - To work with local businesses and local leaders in areas that will benefit and increase their business. To keep
informed on issues that impact local business and to be an advocate for member employers and businesses on issues that affect them. To work to bring new jobs to
Fordyce.
