South Arkansas Community College

South Arkansas Community College (SACC) is located in El Dorado, Arkansas, a 50 mile drive from Fordyce. SACC is a public, two-year institution with an open-door policy, providing educational programs, services, and resources for the residents of Union County and the surrounding area.

Created in 1992 when voters approved a millage supporting the merger of Southern Arkansas University - El Dorado Branch with Oil Belt Vocational Technical School, SouthArk has lived up to its commitment as a community college that offers courses custom designed to fit the community's needs.

Hired as its new president in 1997, Dr. Kathy Matlock has reaffirmed and expanded SouthArk's commitment to Workforce Training and Development in response to business and industry's demands for a highly trained, skilled workforce. And the college continues to offer high quality associate degree academic and technical courses for those students seeking to transfer to four-year institutions.
