Fordyce on the Cotton Belt FestivalEach year on the fourth Saturday in April, the city of Fordyce celebrates its railroad heritage with the Fordyce on the Cotton Belt Festival. Events are planned for the week preceding with the weekend being the primary time for celebration. The purpose for the event is to promote the city, to celebrate its railroad heritage, and to provide wholesome, family-oriented entertainment. Events during the week leading up to the festival include a Little Miss and Little Mister Cotton Belt Pageant, a gospel singing, rodeo, and a Miss Fordyce on the Cotton Belt Pageant. Friday evening is the "Redbug Reunion Rally,"where hundreds of past graduates of Fordyce High School come home and hold class reunions during the festival weekend. Saturday events start early with a 5-K Run. Also on Saturday there is a parade, an antique car show, model train displays, arts & crafts, quilts show, food vendors and free entertainment on the court house lawn all afternoon. Saturday evening brings a concert that has included such entertainers as Johnny Cash, the Browns, Jerry Clower, and many others. Community Information | Tourism Information | Business & Industry
